If you find forgotten dreams, try to track one of those two if they show up. When encountering street fight, pick goblins, and stand your ground in gnome hunt. Make sure to have fate's path from supplies and go straight to the tower to maximize efficiency. If the item is not supplies, but equipment, you can use Lady of the Lake and only having the weapon you want in all selected equipment to guarantee they'll give it to you. If you need lots of fame, have duel, burning building, and elder's gift. On the tower map, have the items with the tokens/shards you want to earn and the following cards for encounters: Street fight, gnome hunt, and forgotten dreams.
For goblins, there is a strategy that can get you the token in an hour or two.
